Both Jo and Jennie have recently blogged about making a cake in a mug in the microwave.  I thought I’d give it a go, but I made mine in a Pyrex jug instead of a mug.  I also didn’t have any cocoa, so I made a plain cake with a bit of cinnamon and a few sultanas.  I added a bit of extra flour to make up for not having the cocoa powder in it.

It looks a little odd, as you don’t get a brown top like you would baking it in the oven, but it tasted really nice.  I cooked it for a minute extra as I wasn’t sure if the bottom was set but I think it probably was ok.  It reminds me of the treacle sponge puddings you get in tins, and probably would taste really yummy with some treacle and a bit of custard.

Good idea if you want cake in hurry, and without much washing up to do afterwards.
